April in Paris, Summer at Satori

Bonjour tout le monde! I’m Carlee Hebert and I studied abroad (that’s how I introduce myself these days). If you can’t already tell, I might be a little obsessed with my semester in France. Pro tip: don’t ask me about it unless you want to hear me gab for the next three hours. I may or may not be dreaming of going back to France, but this summer, I’m proud to be an intern at Satori Marketing.

I’m a senior Telecommunication Media Studies major at Texas A&M and a double minor in Psychology and French. Both of my parents went to A&M so you could say I was brainwashed into loving that school. I’m also a part of the International Student Mentor Association at A&M where I’ve had the chance to meet students from all around the world.

But back to my study abroad experience and why I chose the name Frenchie. First, I applied, interviewed, and was hired by Satori all while I was in France. It was a little more difficult than usual, considering the time difference and that I was living in a host family’s house. During my first FaceTime interview, my host mom… wait for it… crawled behind my chair and opened the sliding door to let the cat in. It took everything in me to keep a straight face and continue the interview without letting them know what was going on. Secondly, my last name has French roots and is pronounced “A-bear”. There was a museum just five minutes from my house in France called Musée Hébert. Unfortunately, it was not a museum about me, but hey, maybe it’s named after my long-lost, great great great uncle… or something like that. Lastly, I absolutely fell in love with France while I was there. From the culture to the food to everything in between, France has my heart.

So, I’ll stop talking about France for now… maybe. I’ve only been here a few days, but I can already tell I’m going to love it here and that I’m going to learn a ton. With the diversity of the clients and all the hats I get to wear while I’m here, I know I’m going to have an amazing experience. I could not be more excited to see what the future holds.
