When I was little, I was determined to be a rockstar when I grew up. I’m not sure a marketing rockstar is what six-year-old me had in mind, but it’s close enough. Now getting into the marketing rockstar business isn’t easy, but I somehow convinced THE Satori Marketing Rockstars to let me follow them around for a whole summer and learn the ins-and-outs of the industry.
So, What’s Your Rockstar Name?
When it came to choosing my rockstar name, Sunshine came to mind. I am a massive fan of anything having to do with suns: sunshine, sunflowers, the Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun.” My obsession reached its peak when I ended up in a tattoo shop, getting a sun permanently inked behind my ear (sorry again Mom and Dad). Why Sunshine? Sunshine literally brightens up your day. I mean come on, who wouldn’t want that as their nickname?
Now, you might be wondering who I was before I joined the marketing rockstar life. Well, my name is Ashley Allender, and I was raised here in Houston. I’m currently a senior at Oklahoma State University, located in the small but sweet town of Stillwater, Oklahoma. I found myself at OSU studying Psychology and decided to add on a minor in Marketing. Unfortunately, my Psychology major has yet to teach me how to read minds, but that doesn’t mean I’m not trying. When I’m not in the library studying with chickens (only half kidding, this has actually happened), you can probably find me hanging out at one of the three coffee shops in Stillwater. There’s a good chance you’ll see me there tending to one of my other many obsessions: coffee, organizing my planner, enneagrams (shoutout to my Type 2’s), and conspiracy theories.
When I applied to the Satori Marketing, I told them I was looking for organized chaos; enough chaos to keep me on my toes, but still organized enough to keep me sane. When they promised me unlimited amounts of organized chaos, I knew I found the right place. So far, I haven’t been disappointed.
